Our History Calvary Christian Fellowship
This fellowship was first birthed by Paul Johnson and a few faithful men in the spring of 1995 (as Calvary Christian Fellowship). We started meeting in the cafetorium of Lone Star Elementary School. Shortly thereafter, we moved into a store front at the corner of Monument and Lee Rd. with about 70 believers. Because of Pastor Paul’s history, dreams, and visions, restoration became our vision and destiny. Psalm 147:3 became our foundation scripture – “He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds.” In a short time, we ran out of room in the storefront (a great problem to have) and began looking for a larger facility. In August 1999, we moved into the facility we are in now at 3266 Southside Blvd. The new property was in desperate need of updating, and leaders and members alike worked long hours for many months to make it happen. Many others contributed financially to the renovation. In the end, all the sacrifice paid off with a newer and more functional sanctuary. Calvary Worship Center In 2008, to better clarify and describe who we are, we changed our name to Calvary Worship Center. We are an engaged Spirit filled believing ministry and we feel we will make history on this hill. Restoration and healing take place every Sunday. Being strong in praise and worship, we feel that God heals and restores broken individuals back to a place of health – body, soul, and spirit. Our people are friendly and genuine, our worship is vibrant, and our altar is always open for ministry. We continue to grow as we watch God intimately touch the hurting and restoration continues to flow. |
